GSK, United Way of Greater Philadelphia and Southern New Jersey Issue Call for Applications for 20th Anniversary GSK IMPACT Awards Totaling $400,000

Local nonprofits working to build a healthier community encouraged to apply for ten $40,000 awards

GlaxoSmithKline (@GSKUS) and United Way of Greater Philadelphia and Southern New Jersey (@PhillySJUnited) today issued the call for applications for the 2016 GSK IMPACT Awards. This annual awards program marks its 20th year in Greater Philadelphia and will honor up to ten local nonprofit organizations with $40,000 each in recognition of their exceptional achievements in contributing to a healthier Greater Philadelphia Region.

“At GSK, we know that place matters when it comes to health,” said Becki Lynch, Manager, US Community Partnerships, GSK. “Through the GSK IMPACT Awards, we recognize outstanding local nonprofit organizations that help community members access healthy foods and safe places to play and exercise, find high-quality jobs and education, strengthen their family and social supports, and many other services that make the Greater Philadelphia region a healthy place to live, learn, work and thrive.”

The GSK IMPACT Awards honor innovative and collaborative nonprofit organizations with evidence-informed programs that are helping people – especially the underserved – live healthier lives. The GSK IMPACT Awards program is one of several charitable programs GSK offers in the US as part of a commitment to building healthier communities and a healthy America. This is the 20th year of the program in the Greater Philadelphia region and GSK is proud to continue its partnership with United Way of Greater Philadelphia and Southern New Jersey (UWGPSNJ) in the administration of the awards.

“At United Way, we believe a healthy region is a strong region,” said Jim Cawley, President and CEO, UWGPSNJ.  “We value our partnership with GSK because the IMPACT Awards enable local nonprofits to provide more of our neighbors with vital resources needed to live healthier lives.  Together, we can strengthen our communities – one child, adult and one family at a time.”
