GSK awards Triangle nonprofits making a dynamic IMPACT on health outcomes

Ten nonprofits will each receive $40,000 to support life coaching and mentorship, healthy eating, literacy, the comforts of home and other social determinants of health.
GSK [LSE/NYSE: GSK] today announced the GSK IMPACT Award Winners in a ceremony at GSK’s RTP site. Ten local nonprofits were awarded $40,000 each in recognition of their outstanding contributions to a healthier Triangle region. Celebrating 10 years in the Triangle Region, this highly competitive awards program recognizes organizations that are working hand-in-hand with the community to improve health.
“Each of our GSK IMPACT Award winners are working with different communities on a variety of issues,” said Jamey Millar, Senior Vice President of Managed Markets & Government Affairs at GSK. “But they share a commitment to making sure all of our neighbors in the Triangle have the opportunity to live a healthy life.”
The winners are:

- StepUp Ministry @stepupministry
- The Daniel Center for Math and Science @thedanielcenter
- The Green Chair Project, Inc. @The_Green_Chair
- Triangle Literacy Council, Inc. @TriangleNCLit
The winners were selected by a panel of local and national community leaders through a competitive process. The nonprofits needed to demonstrate innovative, measured and sustainable approaches to addressing at least one of the following six health factors:
- Nutrition & Physical Activity
- Housing & Built Environment
- Employment & Income
- Community Safety
- Family & Social Support
In the Triangle Region, the GSK IMPACT Awards are presented in partnership with Triangle Community Foundation.
