GSK awards Greater Philadelphia nonprofits making a dynamic IMPACT on health outcomes

Ten nonprofits will each receive $40,000 to support healthy eating, youth mentorship, employment opportunities and other social determinants of health.

GSK [LSE/NYSE: GSK] today announced the GSK IMPACT Award Winners in a ceremony at GSK’s Navy Yard site. Ten local nonprofits were awarded $40,000 each in recognition of their outstanding contributions to building a healthier Philadelphia region. This highly competitive program, in its 22nd year, highlights organizations that are working hand-in-hand with the community to improve health.

“Healthy communities support healthy people,” said Patrick Desbiens, Senior Vice President, US Vaccines, Pharmaceuticals, GSK. “Our 2018 GSK IMPACT Award Winners are working with people to develop innovative solutions to improve health outcomes across the Greater Philadelphia area.”

The winners are:

The winners were selected by a panel of local and national community leaders through a competitive process. The nonprofits needed to demonstrate innovative, measured and sustainable approaches to addressing at least one of the following six health factors:

  1. Nutrition & Physical Activity
  2. Education
  3. Housing & Built Environment
  4. Employment & Income
  5. Community Safety
  6. Family & Social Support

In the Philadelphia region, the GSK IMPACT Awards are presented in partnership with The Philadelphia Foundation.
