Apprentices

Our Apprentice Program provides recent and soon-to-be high school graduates the opportunity to build technical skills through a tailored entry-level development program.

Apprenticeships

GSK’s Apprentice Program is a 3-4-year long program that provides you with the opportunity to jumpstart your career while pursuing a college education. During the program, our apprentices receive a combination of paid on-the-job training while studying towards their associate's degree, or trade qualification, fully funded, at one of GSK’s partnering colleges. All apprenticeships are registered with the Department of Labor at each site, and apprentices receive a certificate of completion from the US Department of Labor at the end of their program.

Apprentice vs Intern/Co-op: What is the difference?

GSK’s Internship and Co-Op Program is a unique opportunity that allows students to enhance and develop skills that are learned in the classroom in a real work environment. Internships are paid 10-12 week-long summer assignments, and Co-Op are paid 6-12-month long assignments. Eligible applicants must have active student status and/or within 12 months of graduating from a degree program.

Achieve your career goals on our Apprentice Program

a group of young professionals

We offer a variety of apprenticeships across many of our sites in the US. The Apprentice Program offers you the chance to study fully funded towards nationally recognized qualifications while gaining valuable, paid work experience. We look for apprentices to join us who ideally live within a 60-minute commute of their chosen site.

The types of apprenticeships we offer are dependent upon business needs, and the availability of roles will vary by GSK work site. As an Apprentice, you will study part-time towards an Associate’s degree (AAS) aligned to your program at one of GSK’s partnering community colleges, or a trade qualification, fully funded by GSK, with the potential to go on to further study.

Upon completion of the program, you will also receive a Certificate of Apprenticeship Completion from the US Department of Labor, an industry-issued, portable, nationally recognized credential that certifies occupational proficiency. Working with both your line and program manager we want to identify the right opportunities to help you succeed in the short term and throughout your career with us. You will also be assigned a buddy or a mentor who will be there to offer support and guidance throughout your apprenticeship.

For the next step of the application process we’ll invite you to complete our ‘World of GSK’ online assessment. This will help us determine your strengths and suitability for our early careers programs. It will also give you an insight into what we do and how we work.

During the online assessment you will watch videos featuring some of our colleagues who will tell you about what they do at GSK. Scenarios will then be set and we will ask you how you would manage the situation.

After you complete the ‘World of GSK’ assessment, we will let you know if you have made it to the next stage.

Don’t worry, you do not need to have any prior knowledge of GSK, or the healthcare/biopharma industry to succeed at any stage of the application.

Be timely

You will receive an email inviting you to complete the assessment after submitting your application. However, remember you only have five days to complete it. Do not leave it too late. The assessment is not timed, so we recommend that you do take your time as you progress through it.

Be prepared

Have a pen, paper, and calculator to hand. You may want to take notes, and for some questions you might need to interpret numerical data and complete calculations.

Check your internet

Make sure your internet connection is reliable before starting the assessment.

Take care

Read the instructions carefully and complete the assessment in a quiet room with no distractions. We suggest you do so at the time of day you feel most energized.

Get help

Feel free to contact us if you experience any technical issues while completing the assessment. If you require any reasonable adjustments due to a disability, please also get in touch.

You can reach us at AM.EarlyCareers@gsk.com
