Ten nonprofits will each receive $40,000 to support Housing, Skills Training, Food Access and other social determinants of health
Issued: Research Triangle Park, NC
GSK today announced the GSK IMPACT Award Winners in a ceremony at GSK’s RTP site. Ten local nonprofits were awarded $40,000 each in recognition of their outstanding contributions to a healthier Triangle region. Celebrating 11 years in the Triangle Region, this highly competitive awards program recognizes organizations that are working hand-in-hand with the community to improve health.
“The ten nonprofits being recognized today play an important role in making the Triangle community a healthy place to live, work and thrive,” said Than Powell, VP, Pipeline & Strategy, US Pharmaceuticals, GSK. “We are thrilled to support their continued success and look forward to working alongside them to improve lives across the region.”
The winners are:
- Club Nova Community, Inc.
- Code the Dream
- GiGi’s Playhouse Raleigh
- Learning Together
- Marian Cheek Jackson Center
- Passage Home, Inc.
- Refugee Community Partnership
- SEEDS
- TABLE
- White Oak Foundation, Inc.
The winners were selected by a panel of local and national community leaders through a competitive process. The nonprofits needed to demonstrate innovative, measured and sustainable approaches to addressing at least one of the following six community health factors: Community Safety, Education, Employment & Income, Family & Social Support, Housing & Built Environment, and Nutrition & Physical Activity.
In the Triangle Region, the GSK IMPACT Awards are presented in partnership with Triangle Community Foundation (@TriComFdn).
“In a region with so much remarkable growth it is easy to look past our most vulnerable citizens and assume all are receiving a share of the prosperity,” said Lori O’Keefe, President and CEO of Triangle Community Foundation. “The reality is we need groups like our 10 nonprofits and all of the organizations doing such outstanding work in our community to support those in need and help them receive the support and services they need to succeed.”
