For more than 20 years, GSK has honored outstanding nonprofit programs that are working every day to address critical community health challenges in and around our US campuses in Durham, NC and Philadelphia, PA with GSK IMPACT Awards.

Recent IMPACT Award winners have been recognized for innovative and transformational programs that make our communities healthier.  These local nonprofit organizations are improving education, keeping kids active, making homes and neighborhoods safer, connecting families to support services, and preparing people of all ages for successful careers – all important factors to improve health outcomes in underserved neighborhoods.

To date, exemplary US-based nonprofits have been honored with over $9 million in GSK IMPACT Awards.

Our 2017 GSK IMPACT Awards winners for Greater Philadelphia are:

Food Moxie promotes nutrition and healthy eating habits by educating and inspiring people to grow, cook, and eat healthy food.

Good Samaritan Shelter, Inc. provides safe, comfortable housing and supportive services to men, women and children experiencing homelessness in Chester and Lancaster counties.

Greensgrow engages neighborhoods in innovating how urban agriculture can improve community health and prosperity.

New Leash on Life USA works to reduce recidivism and save the lives of at-risk dogs.

Philadelphia Outward Bound School changes lives for Philadelphia students by taking them out of doors and into natural environments to facilitate discovery of character and leadership.

SeniorLAW Center improves the lives of older Pennsylvanians and protects their rights through free legal representation, education and advocacy, fighting poverty and promoting access to justice for thousands of grandparents, older veterans, victims of elder abuse and exploitation, and other seniors in need.

Southeastern Asian Mutual Assistance Associations Coalition (SEAMAAC) supports and serves immigrants and refugees and other politically, socially and economically marginalized communities as they seek to advance the condition of their lives in the United States.

Starfinder Foundation is a sports-based youth development organization that uses soccer as a hook to level the playing field and give students’ bodies, brains and budding leadership skills the exercise they need to grow strong and healthy.

Students Run Philly Style transforms students’ lives through running and mentorship.

Communities in Schools of Wake County helps schools remove the barriers that put students at risk of wasting their potential, empowering them to stay in school and achieve in life through supportive relationships.

The Community Empowerment Fund helps individuals who are experiencing homelessness and financial insecurity to gain employment, secure housing, connect to supportive resources and build financial stability.

DHIC, Inc. is dedicated to developing high-quality housing communities in the Triangle region.

Diaper Bank of North Carolina works to ensure families with babies and children across North Carolina who are living with poverty have an adequate supply of diapers and personal hygiene products.

EmPOWERment Inc. empowers people and communities to determine their own destinies through affordable housing, community organizing and grassroots economic development.

Families Together provides access to safe, affordable housing; temporary rental and utilities assistance; and case management to break the cycle of homelessness for families with children in our community.

Orange County Partnership for Young Children’s mission is to ensure that every child in Orange County arrives at school healthy and ready to succeed.

Partners for Youth Opportunity helps youth to connect, develop and contribute to the community through mentoring, employment and educational support.

Reinvestment Partners’ mission is to advocate for economic justice and opportunity by working with people, places, and policy across the Triangle.

Student Action with Farmworkers works with young people to improve the lives of farmworkers and their families.
