Andrew Witty and former US President Jimmy Carter co-hosted a reception at The Carter Center in Atlanta to celebrate the 10th anniversary of our successful collaboration to eliminate lymphatic filariasis (LF). President Carter was the catalyst for GSK’s involvement in the global program.

Andrew Witty and Jimmy CarterThe reception was preceded by an expert panel discussion, attended by global health leaders to debate Past, Present and Future Partnerships In Disease Elimination and Eradication. A written report is now available of this event.

President Carter established The Carter Center after he left the US Presidential office in 1980, to focus on global health and peace.  Andrew Witty and Jimmy CarterGSK has supported The Carter Center’s work on LF and as part of that support our CEO Andrew Witty gave an additional $250,000 GSK donation to launch the LF program in Ethiopia.

Remarkable progress is being made to rid the world of this debilitating disease and now we are increasing our support for the program, which will benefit millions of people, many in India.
