Medicare drug coverage

If you have Medicare, or are eligible for it, you can sign up for a Medicare prescription drug plan. This prescription drug benefit covers people who are age 65 or older, or are disabled.

The Medicare drug benefit offers some much-needed help for seniors. The benefit is designed to meet your personal needs by offering choices of plans and benefits. One of the best ways to determine if a plan is right for you is to write a list of all your medications and then contact Medicare. Trained specialists will describe the options that meet your needs and are available in your area. Medicare:

  • Offers insurance coverage for prescription medicines
  • Pays for both brand name and generic medicines
  • Is open to anyone with Medicare
  • Provides help by telephone at 1-800-MEDICARE or online at www.medicare.gov
