Why did you join GSK? What makes GSK a great place to work?
I chose to work for GSK because of its reputation as a pharmaceutical leader both in the US and across the globe. I needed long term stability from an industry leader. I knew GSK would offer multiple opportunities for growth and development. GSK is a great place to work because it has provided countless opportunities throughout the many phases of my career.
What have been the challenges in your role?
I have faced many challenges here at GSK. These challenging times have forced me to adapt and prepare for any negative situation. Each new challenge has become an opportunity to test my own personal limits and to see how successful I could be when faced with adversity. I am now a more strategic, tenacious, problem solver who is not risk adverse. As the Pharmaceutical Industry continues to change, it is reassuring to know I have the full support of the entire leadership team here at GSK.
What have you learnt and enjoyed?
I was able to be a part of Sales Training as an Associate Trainer to new representatives where I developed Coaching, Platform and Facilitation Skills. I also explored the field of talent acquisition as an Associate Recruiter, working with District Sales Managers to select the finest candidates to work here at GSK.
I have enjoyed the many development opportunities offered to me.
What responsibility and progression have you experienced so far?
Hired as a Vaccine Sales Representative, I learned the dynamics of account based selling. I had the opportunity to transfer to the Philadelphia Pharma division where I worked as part of a team for the first time in six years.
I have also been a part of the Regional Development Program which has helped me to be prepared to take advantage of future career opportunities by developing professional skill sets and exploring different career paths. Currently, I am participating in the Emerging Leaders Program. ELD is a very prestigious program here at GSK because it is a training and development program that assesses the readiness of future Management candidates.
What are your career aspirations and how do you see GSK supporting that?
I have both short and long term career goals and I have the opportunity to work as a Field Sales Coach and a Field Sales Supervisor. These roles have given me the opportunity to experience the responsibilities and activities of a District Sales Manager. Most recently, I attended the 1st of 3 phases of the Emerging Leaders Development Program. Over the next 12-18 months, GSK will help me prepare for the role of a District Sales Manager. Throughout this program I will learn how to successfully handle the business and personnel challenges a new District Sales Manager will face.

How would you describe GSK’s company culture?
The leadership team works diligently to make sure employees have every possible resource they might need. At sales meetings we are always offered workshops on employee benefits and career development. GSK has countless programs to save their employee’s time and money from health advocates who help employees deal with physicians and HMO's to discounts on phone services. I am most impressed by GSK’s commitment to employee health; there are discounts for health and well-being programs (fitness or weight management) and reimbursement for smoking cessation.
