Uchenna

Company Secretary & Legal Director
Joined us in 2006, based in Nigeria

What makes you, you?

I’ve been involved in youth-related activities for the past 20 years, including being a leader of the Boys Brigade and organising and speaking at conferences. This led to me being chosen to be our Olympic torchbearer for London 2012.

What’s the best thing about working here?

It’s the culture of respect and doing the right thing. I love coming to work knowing that I’m not going to be expected do anything unethical that will make me feel uncomfortable.

What are your highlights?

I started here as a consultant. Six years later, I’m now the country director of legal for the whole of West Africa.  Because of growing trust in our market and our organizational practices, far greater importance has been placed on our African operations. I’m really proud that we took West Africa from a 2* to a 3* rating within our global internal audit in 2009. Since then, we have almost doubled turnover in the region.

How have we supported your development?

Right from the start, I’ve had huge support, both from managers and colleagues. This is the great thing. Managers aren’t just interested in using you, but developing you and helping you achieve your career objectives.

What would you say to someone thinking of joining us?

Everybody’s voice can be heard. If you have bright ideas, share them – a concern, raise it. You’ll be judged by how much you put in.
