As a parent or a teacher you want your children or students to get the best possible start in their career. Apprenticeships are a smart, popular alternative to college or university for students who want to start their career straightaway.
An apprenticeship is the combination of paid work while working towards a nationally recognized qualification which gives the apprentice a head start in their career.
In 2016, GSK launched its US Apprentice Program, and our wide range of opportunities continues to grow. Our goal is to train and develop our next generation of technicians and engineers to work at our Research and Development and Manufacturing sites. All of our apprenticeships are entry level positions that have been developed by GSK leaders to meet business needs and fill capability gaps. The roles are designed to ensure the work our apprentices are learning is relevant and appropriate for their chosen career path.

The basic qualifications for apprenticeships can vary by role. Applicants must have a high school diploma or equivalency diploma (such as TACC or GED) to be eligible for an apprentice role. Your child or student must be able to commute on a daily basis to the GSK worksite and related instruction facility. Training and support
Our apprentices are supported by a rigorous 3 or 4 year development program of training and development to help them succeed. The Training and Development program for apprentices consists of learning on the job from industry experts, an assigned line manager, a mentor or buddy, along with more formal training as part of an apprenticeship.
Apprenticeships are now an essential component of our talent pipeline. We establish all of our apprenticeships with the ambition of offering a permanent position upon the apprentice’s successful completion of the program. The roles that our apprentices transition into may vary and our commitment to their development does not end after their apprenticeship. Some apprentices have the potential to extend their apprenticeships to complete a full Bachelors degree and beyond.
