Grants and sponsorships
GlaxoSmithKline provides grants and sponsorship to organizations that foster increased understanding of scientific, clinical, and healthcare issues, and contribute to improving patient care.
We believe that transparency about our support helps build trust with our stakeholders.
We publish quarterly reports on this website which details our financial support to US based non-profit organizations. This includes grants to organizations such as patient advocacy organizations, professional associations, trade associations located in the US and Puerto Rico. As of January 1, 2010, GSK will no longer fund programs by medical education and communication companies.
Our policies ensure that our contributions and donations are not tied to any prescribing, purchasing, or recommendations for our products. We also ensure that our support is in compliance with all applicable laws, rules and regulations, including the guidelines and standards set by ACCME, ACPE, AMA, AAMC, CCRN, FDA, and the PhRMA Code.
GSK is proud of its unique requirements that independent medical education programs be clearly designed to close documented gaps in patient care and include a plan for measuring results. GSK does not fund medical education programs offered by commercial providers including medical education and communication companies (MECCs).
Medical education programs offer physicians, pharmacists, nurses and other healthcare professionals important information on disease prevention, diagnosis and management. These are programs that healthcare professionals must take to maintain their licenses and hospital privileges.
